EVENT 62 - Royal Geelong Show
Mermaidia Braids Returns to the Royal Geelong Show: A Rollercoaster of Weather and Fun
Our second year at the Royal Geelong Show was one for the books! Starting on Thursday, we had sunny skies and a slower pace as it was still a school day, but we managed to complete 21 festival braids and 8 extension ponytails. One of the highlights was braiding a mother-daughter duo in matching colours—such a fun pair!
Friday brought a challenge like no other: severe storms, floods, and ankle-deep water. For the first time in 70 years, the show was closed early at 4 pm due to the weather, but not before we completed 19 festival braids and 1 extension ponytail, all while battling sideways rain and wind. Despite the challenges, we kept smiling and pushing through!
By Saturday, the sun was back, and the energy was off the charts! We braided 47 festival braids and 38 extension ponytails, danced, sparkled, and reunited with our favorite twins, who came back with a new theme—this time as Wednesday and Enid Sinclair. Their plans for next year? Barbie, of course!
Sunday wrapped up the show with more sunshine, and we finished strong with 27 festival braids and 19 extension ponytails. Exhausted but happy, we ended the weekend on a high note, already looking forward to next year!
