Mermaidia Braids Shines at the Wangaratta Show for the 3rd Year in a Row

What a weekend! Mermaidia Braids returned to the Wangaratta Show for the third consecutive year, and it was nothing short of amazing. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, better company, or a better experience overall.

Friday: A Full Day of Braiding and Fireworks

Friday was a busy one, running from 9 am to 9 pm. The sun was shining, with just the right amount of wind to keep things breezy, and we were busy from start to finish. We completed 27 festival braids and 14 extension ponytails – a fantastic turnout! And to top it off, the fireworks display was epic, exploding right in front of our gazebo. It was the perfect way to end the day.

Saturday: Returning Faces and New Energy

Saturday was equally magical, with perfect conditions: sunny skies, 23°C, and no wind. From 9 am to 4 pm, we completed 21 festival braids and 14 extension ponytails. But what made the day extra special was seeing so many familiar faces. It warms my heart when families return each year to get their festival braids – it's like a reunion, and I love catching up with everyone.

This year, we had an extra spark of energy from Pyper, our incredible helper. She came in wanting to be our “sparkler,” and before long, she was confidently putting gel in people’s hair and spraying them with hairspray. Pyper was a natural, and her enthusiasm made the day even more fun. I loved having her with us – her energy was contagious!

Looking Forward to Year Four!

The Wangaratta Show holds a special place in my heart, and this year was another reminder of why. From the epic fireworks to the returning families and the fun we had with Pyper, it was an unforgettable weekend. We can’t wait to come back for year four!
