EVENT 39 - Royal Canberra Agricultural Show
Mermaidia Braids brought the sparkle to the Royal Canberra Show, a weekend extravaganza in the capital city of Canberra with a population of over 460,000 residence. Friday unfolded from 8:30 am to 10 pm, witnessing the completion of 31 Braids/Ponytails, it was quite rainy but still warm which was nice. On the Saturday, still running from 8:30 am to 10 pm, the Mermaidia Braids team broke records of 99 Braids/Ponytails. All awhile enjoying the glorious sunshine. It was an awesome day and night! Such a fun day.
Sunday, still a gorgeous sunny day and temps of 38.c, we completed 52 Braids/Ponytails from 8:30 am to 6 pm, Our debut at the Royal Canberra Show was met with sunshine. Michael even got to have an interview on a radio station 106.3 where he sang our jingle ‘www.mermaidiabraids.com.au’. He he he.
We met some amazing people again, some that stood out to us was the gentleman from the Motorcycle Club “Bikers against child abuse”. He was such a great guy. He aloud us to braid his beard, which was a lot of fun. Such a funny bloke. Then we met a guy from the Snake Show and he wanted a one braid look, which we absolutely had to do. This style really suited him, we wore it in his hair for the remainder of the show which was cool. Some great cross promotion, he he he.
A story that has to be told, we got to meet a brilliant autistic young man, who wanted a braid in but he just didn’t have enough hair, so my amazing team member Bry, asked him if he would like a braid in his beard. He was so excited to have this. He was so great, it’s not always that comfortable to get a braid in your bear as you have to stand very close to you client face on. I guess we feel like we are in their comfort bubble, but he was such an honour to braid, and he was so kind. The smile he adorned at the end of it, was the reason we do what we do. Thank you Bry for making his day, it meant a lot to us.
The Royal Canberra Show was more than an event; it was a testament to our commitment to joy, sparkle, and seamlessly navigating through unexpected heat waves.
