EVENT 25 - Geelong Royal Show

Mermaidia Braids had an exhilarating time at the Geelong Royal Show, hosted in the city with a population of well over 200,000 residents. The four-day extravaganza, running from Thursday to Sunday, featured dazzling fireworks on both Friday and Saturday nights, adding a magical touch to the festivities.

Despite weather challenges, our talented team showcased their expertise in braiding. Thursday saw the completion of 36 Braids/Ponytails under perfect sunshine. Friday continued the trend with 63 Braids/Ponytails, enjoying ideal weather conditions. Saturday, while experiencing extreme wind, witnessed the completion of 85 Braids/Ponytails amidst sunshine. Sunday, with extreme wind again and light rain, concluded the event with 22 Braids/Ponytails.

Weather posed a significant challenge on Saturday, forcing us to halt bookings in the mid-afternoon due to safety concerns. This was a unique situation in the history of our shows, and we hope it remains an isolated incident.

An endearing encounter with a security guard's shy daughter added a heartwarming touch to the event. Fulfilling his request for a video message, we looked forward to meeting her and creating a memorable experience. Our new team member, Bek, started with us during this vibrant weekend, witnessing Mermaidia Braids at its peak performance.

Contributing to breast cancer fundraising, we braided a mother and daughter in pink, to help towards fostering a sense of community spirit.

Additionally, creating a unique Harley Quinn-inspired braid for enthusiastic twins, alternating blue and red sides, added a fun and creative dimension to our weekend.

The Geelong Royal Show was a blend of challenges, heartwarming connections, and the peak expression of Mermaidia Braids' creativity and community engagement.
